This made math much more simple than when I was in school. This was a very effective way to make sure that papers never piled Math Made Simple, and was manageable because my students completed Math Made Simple of their written work in workbooks and journals which are not graded. Meanwhile my friends with children in public school are still doing single digit speed addition memorization only, but as far Grade 2 book I can tell speed proficiency is progressing just as well using MM with exposure to those "facts" in the context of more advanced problem solving.
I can see my older son really learning to think mathematically, especially when it comes to mental math, and even I am learning things by teaching it! This helps build student confidence and makes marks from the teacher a good thing the more, the better!
